Hello friend!
Yesterday, I gave the simple mindfulness practice instructions on video.
These serve as a practical follow-up to the Introduction to Natural Wellbeing.
In the beginning of this course your practice will look like formal meditation.
But the difference is you're going to take the benefits into daily life ASAP.
You don't want to be a meditator; you want to make wellbeing your default mode.
Here’s my recommendation for daily practice:
- Get comfortable in a distraction-free environment
- Silence all notifications on your devices
- Play yesterday’s video and follow the instructions
- Write about what your practice was like
Write in whatever way is comfortable—you might write just one sentence; you might write a short essay. (Though please stop short of a full dissertation as I won't have time to read it!)

💡 Here’s a link to another section of this Notion dashboard where you can write all your journal entries. It’s a great idea to keep them all in once place so you can review them later.

I want you to give me a sense of 4 things if you can—
- What happened during your practice? (A basic account of the experience, ie. “I struggled to get comfortable but then settled in. I felt a pain in my shoulder but I managed to forget it as I listened to Dan’s voice. I was distracted about 50% of the time thinking about a work task that I didn’t manage to complete. I continued practising for 5 minutes after the video ended.)
- What did you investigate? (A list of things you looked into more deeply, ie. “I felt anxiety in my chest which changed when I breathed deeply. I noticed a recurring thought about an experience in my past which showed up maybe 20 times throughout the practice.)
- What did you learn? (ie. I learned that letting go isn’t as simple as it sounds—as soon as I let go of one thing, another popped up!)
- What did you dislike? (ie. I felt impatient, like I was waiting for a result—even though I know this isn’t the point of mindfulness.)
